We’ll just go ahead and say it…yoga is hard. Whether you’re sitting in quiet meditation, stringing together asana in a fast paced flow class, or anything in between, it’s just hard. What makes it so challenging, you ask? Yoga requires us to be in the present moment, awake and aware to breath, sensations + feelings. Sounds doable, right? And it totally is, but most of us get a little tripped up because we have such busy minds. Yoga is a practice of calming the fluctuation of the mind, so we can be right here, right now. It’s one of those “easier said, than done” things.
WHAT TO EXPECT?
Breathing Room Yoga + Psycle is an inclusive studio offering you a place to find ease in your body + mind.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR + BRING? We recommend wearing breathable clothing, like a tank top or t-shirt and comfortable leggings or shorts. If you have a mat, please bring it with you, otherwise we do have mats for rent. Bring a water bottle hydrate before and after class.
SHOULD I ARRIVE EARLY? Yes! Please make sure you arrive at least 15 minutes before your practice with us, there’s nothing worse than feeling rushed when visiting a new studio. Our team will take it from there and ensure you have an awesome experience with us. Please note that if you do not arrive a minimum of 5 minutes before the class start time, we cannot guarantee that you will be allowed entry into class as priority is then given to those who are waitlisted and present.
HOW DO I CHECK IN? If you’ve already booked yourself in through Punchpass (highly recommended), make your way to the front desk and ensure you’ve checked yourself in. We encourage all first-time yogis to roll out their yoga mat near the middle/back of the room so that they can follow along and have a great line of sight to the instructor.
WHAT IF I HAVE AN INJURY? We trust that you’ve done your research and you’re well aware that yoga is a beautiful way to move the body in a helathy + sustainable way. However, if you have any injuries or concerns, please tell your instructor upon arrival and we’ll do our best to offer modifications that will ensure the best experience possible. Insider Knowledge: WE ALL HAVE INJURIES
CAN KIDS COME? Yes. However, children ages 12-16 must be accompanied by an adult to drop-in yoga classes. Please also keep in mind that slower classes tend to be more meditative, so flow classes might be the best option. It’s our hope to keep disruptions to a minimum.
UMMMM, NOW WHAT? Once you make your way into the studio and you’ve rolled out your mat, please help yourself to props. Sometimes your instructor will indicate what he/she intends to use. Not sure how these things work? Just ask, we’re here to help. Once you’re all set, settle in either sitting down or lying back. Oh and please make sure your cell phone is silenced.
WHAT ELSE SHOULD I KNOW? Yoga is a personal journey designed to take you out of your comfort zone. We all come to our mats with different reasons and those are important to honor. If you feel yourself pushing, you’re missing the point. And if anything feels painful, please scale back. The idea is to feel better, more spacious and more at ease when your practice is over.
